It’s surreal seeing your old car being sold at a dealership. Keep in mind, my trade-in value was $500; so it now has a 1000% markup (a 500% markup from a decent KBB price) from what i thought its worth. Its interesting to see the price difference, since I’ve never traded in a car before.

Oh, I’m sure they addressed the issues you mentioned in your previous post, and gave it a thorough service, new tires, battery, and a full detail.
[/sarcasm]

My thoughts exactly. It also gives some insight into ‘as-is’ and what condition it may or may not be it.
The takeaway, look over any car before you buy.

Wow nice markup bro.

I seriously expected it to go to auction, not put back on the lot.

I would have too.

The also flipped the image of the car. Unlesd they converted it to RHD overnight.

The weird
thing is, is that the day before t
he image was correct, aka LHD.
So for whatever reason they flupped the image after making the original post go live.

I’ve never seen one of my cars for sale because they’re usually terminal before I give up on them. Interestingly I traded my PT in for $500 trade in value after limping it into the dealer’s lot on 3 cylinders. I’m 100% certain it was scrapped afterwards.

And some people say dealers have a close margin on used cars.

Make sure they live life to the fullest, right?

That’s a pretty blue, but not pretty enough for 5 grand.

Don’t forget reconditioning costs! They probably are loosing money on that deal! I'll just go ask the sales manager.

Years ago I traded a used up, but cleanish Toyota Corolla (315,000 mi give or take) for $800. I totally expected it to be crushed. Leas than a week later, I saw it in a campus parking lot. I NEVER thought anyone would buy that car.

More like, “If I can’t have you, no one can have you!”

Probably not a 1000% markup... maybe only 500% when you take into account that they probably cleaned it thoroughly as well as spent a bit on advertising.

5,000?! That dealer is bonkers.
![]() 09/13/2019 at 20:17 |

Yeah, I didn’t expect it to be that high, if anything. If anything, $2000 at max.

It is a pretty blue. It was what made me drew me to the car all those years ago.

It’s very similar to the blue on my RX-8, which I feel is the color that made that car look best. Color matters so much.

Well, including today, it’s been online for 3 days. My Town and Country was advertised as “great service record!”. Jolly Roger says “Fresh Trade!”.
Also, i JUST noticed they took a pic that didn’t show the damaged bumper, lol.

Hey MontegoMan! I almost named the post “Nice Price or Crack Pipe”, but didn’t want my feelings hurt, lol.

Hey man, hope all is well (other than the PT having to move on)! I know it’s been a while! I’ve been as focused as possible on fixing the Fanny Pack D uo this summer. What dealer did you go through?
![]() 09/14/2019 at 09:44 |

Yep everything is going well, as long as nothing ‘exciting’ happens, lol.
Without giving too much info away, it was a semi-local Chrysler dealership, one location, and about 1/2 an hour drive.

Very optimistic.
